The inauguration of Mizoram’s first railway connection to the National Capital on 13th September 2025 brought immense joy and pride to the Self Help Group (SHG) members under DAY-NULM. Witnessing the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi flag off the first train was a once-in-a-lifetime experience for them.

The moment became even more special as SHG members were given the rare opportunity to take a free ride on the inaugural train from Aizawl to Bairabi. Their happiness reflected not just the excitement of a new journey but also the hope for better market access, improved livelihoods, and stronger linkages with the rest of the country.

For the SHG women, this was more than a train ride—it was a symbol of progress, inclusion, and empowerment, filling them with renewed confidence and dreams for the future.
